A company “hires” a qualified manager (or a consultant) for a specified task/project or time period. The contractual relationship is established between the company and the Interim Management provider or – in some cases – with the Interim Manager or freelance consultant.
Based on the nature of the project, interim professionals are contracted either as Executives or Consultants. Consultants advise and make recommendations, while as an Executive, the Interim Manager will advise, recommend and implement.
Executive Interim Management is a common business model used by many companies in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands (where the concept was developed in the 1970s).
